Don’t expect everything to change on New Year’s Day
Happy New Year my dear friends!
I hope you had a restful and enjoyable holiday season and are READY FOR YOUR ENTIRE LIFE TO CHANGE TOMORROW BECAUSE IT’S 2020 BABYYYY!!!!
Just kidding, how nuts was the hype for 2020 amiright? I get it, we are DESPERATE for something different. It feels like the world is imploding literally every day: forest fires, politics, hate crimes, bombings, no room for conversations if you disagree with someone even in the slightest. 2019 depleted all of us.
So yeah, I get why people are psyched on 2020 but with all of the “OMG 2020 IS GOING TO BE THE BEST YEAR EVER” posts on social media (guilty) it also puts an immense pressure on everyone to make that happen IMMEDIATELY: to be the absolute best person you’ve ever been, to conquer all your fears, to learn every language, to travel to all the places, to never make mistakes–I’m exhausted just writing about it, not to mention how unrealistic even one of those things is.
While I think it’s definitely important to have hope and excitement for the upcoming year, you don’t put seeds in the ground and expect to see a tree tomorrow. I want to give you full permission to maybe step away from HUGE unrealistic goals and instead plant the seeds to commit to making smaller sustainable improvements rather than changing everything about you and your life tomorrow. I say it a million times in Mindfulness Minutes but it’s the small things that make up the big things. It is the small steps you are taking every day towards the life you want to live that will have long lasting meaningful impact.
If you’d like help finding what elements of your life are aligned and where you may need to add in a little more balance, I would SO love to help support you on that journey. Shoot me a message here.
